Ben Garth - Sir Benjamin Of Garth
Yesterday i went off to the lava tubes on Santa Cruz. They where awesome; just big holes in the ground that you could climb down and they go on for about 1km. At points it was a bit claustrophobic as you were on your hands and knees scrabbling over the rock in water. It was cool though. I then met up with the two guys i met a few days ago and we messed around in the lagoon again. Today ive just booked a place on the ferry that goes over to isabella island. Im planning to stay there for 3, maybe 4 days and do some guided tours, including a pony trek which will be good fun. They Read More

Barcelona and Madrid are both great cities. I feel very lucky to have spent a lot of time in Spain. Some other cities to visit: Salamanca, near Portugual, has beautiful architecture. The Basque country, too. San Sebastian is possibly the most beautiful city in the region, but Bilbao is worth visiting for the Guggenheim museum and old town, and the little seaside village of Hondarabbia. Outside Madrid are towns like Segovia, Toledo, and Avila, Toledo is probably the most famous. And Andalucia in the south, Grenada for the Alhambra, and Cordoba is very charming. Seville is very touristic but the old quarter is fantastic and you have to visit the bull ring for a tour! The Lonely Planet guide books Read More

Congrats dear, on passing your open water, it is really fantastic, I remember Cyprus. Have you been through any caves or up funnels, that is something to take your breath away. We look forward to your next stage, but you are doing great.

Rhona and backpack are Go!
Another few days passed and mainly taken up with diving it has to be said. I have now got my advanced open water qualification which means I can go a bit deeper and have practised a few more things. I only did it cos I wanted to go on a night dive on the full moon. Fairly daft really. Its been wonderful though. Every dive has featured turtles swimming around and I have seen a fair few white tipped reef sharks so have finally got over my fear of them if not other breeds of shark. Its just sooo beautiful under the water it takes my breathe away (thinkfully not really cos then I would drown). Gili Trawangan is Read More

Ben Garth - Sir Benjamin Of Garth
Ill just write a breif lo-down; I flew into Quito on on the 22nd August and stayed in a place called Hotel Suisse. The following day i took a taxi to teh airport and tried to book a flight to Baltra, the main airport of the galapagos islands. They told me, however that all of the flights were booked up until mid-late september. I got another taxi to the centre of the city and went to a few places that were doing tours around the islands until i found one boat, m/v San Jose that was leaving the next day. I snapped up that for a $500 discount because there was only one space left on the boat and Read More

Tuesday evening here but I thought the Full Moon Eclipse deserved a mention, plus the fact I survived two seriously full days of teaching. That is a mini achievement for me. Thankfully tomorrow is less intense. But all"'s rolling along. Starting to understand the Chilean way. Laughing lots. I did feel the need to cry, after I got my hair cut the other day. I went in wanting a trim and somehow got a total rehaul. But I have come to terms with my hair cut. Just need to wait. Thank god for hair putty! What I really wanted to write about was the amazing moon tonight. I went for a walk around my neighbourhood, listening to music and strolling Read More

Moonrise Over the Great Wallandnbsp;andnbsp; from http://www.wetware.blogspot.com/ This post is way over-due, but I"'ve been spending more time actually enjoying myself to bother with e-mail, web, blogging etc. Nonetheless, I do think I should share the amazing experience at the Great Wall. In the immortal words of Richard Nixon circa 1972, it really is a great wall!! Secondly, it really does go on for ever and ever. Just when you think you"'ve seen the end of it, you see it emerging out of yet another valley and over yet another mountain. Nothing you hear about or see in photographs prepares you for the sheer majesty and grandeur of the Wall. And then you remind yourself that when the Wall Read More

Shoestringing Sea To Sea
Saturday,August 25 - Monday., August 27:Saskatoon is my hometown, so we always enjoy our stay here visiting friends and relatives. Of course, we try to spend as much time with Mom as possible, talking, shopping and doing errands. Mom and I finally had our long awaited pedicures, a Mother"'s Day gift that we always save until we can go together. Mom"'s toes are now a violet pink, while mine are a sparkly burgundy.Terry has been serving us fabulous meals - from her famous Greek ribs, to Mom"'s favorite roast beef, to home-made spaghetti sauce. Zorro has made himself quite at home, even waiting patiently by the front door after escaping undetected - he obviously knows he"'s got a good thing Read More

Dear Matt & Bonnie,
It was wonderful following your adventures all through since we met in Dar Es Salaam / Kipepeo. And reading your last blog gave me goose pimples and almost some tears. It must be quite different when this blasting and breathtaking journey suddenly comes to an end and you are thrown back into \"reality\". However, I am certain that you have brought home a heart full of African emotions and loads of new ideas for the coming years. Please let us know, when you open up your backpacker\'s lodge in GB, or go on another travel - we would love to join you again... Coming through Germany one day - do not miss to visit us! H&K, Nane* & Florian

Shoestringing Sea To Sea
We arrived in Saskatoon on Friday night and have been enjoying John and Terry"'s warm hospitality for the past few days. Here"'s an update on what we"'ve been doing along the road.Wednesday, August 22:We woke up to a cool misty morning and enjoyed breakfast and coffee using our new French Press, an idea we had garnered during our visit with Grace and Paul. We found it to be a huge improvement over the Instant coffee we"'ve been enduring throughout our trip (always a good reason to stop at Tim"'s though). On past trips, we"'ve always bypassed Sault Ste Marie, but this morning we took a tour of the downtown area on our way to the Roberta Bondar Marina where we Read More
