Ron Wagner - Springfield, Illinois, Home of Abraham Lincoln
- 31 Dec 2007Must see spots in Springfield, Illinois area. Home of Abraham Lincoln. 1. Abraham Lincoln Museum. Check out their web site. Very impressive, and reasonable in price. The Abraham Lincoln Library is accross the street. Great place for real Lincoln afficionados and scholars. 2. Abraham Lincoln home. Where he lived when he became president. 3. Abraham Lincoln Law Office. Where he practiced law. 4. Abraham Lincoln Memorial. Where he is buried. 5. New Salem. A large group of log cabins with guides to tell you about the area, and its history. On the banks of the Sangamon River. He moved here after a terrible winter spent just west of Decatur, IL. He canoed from the Lincoln Homestead. (see Read More

Collin Cates - Ccube311
Sunday December 30 2007Seven days from now I will find myself on a airplane headed to Argentina, and I will have packed everything I"'ll need for two months of travel. Hopefully.Last night I tried out my tent in the backyard. It"'s a one-man version that"'s pretty roomy and of a sleek design. It"'s big enough to put my backpack in and even has a small covered outdoor area where I can keep my shoes dry. As I pulled the cords tight around the opening of my sleeping bag, I could hear a far off train whistle as it hauled goods down the line. There are no trains in Patagonia.Sometime in the night, my dog Maggie came sniffing around the unidentifiable Read More

I"'ve started this travel blog and will try to maintain it with photos when I can. Read More

frits&danielle - Meanderings in Southeast Asia
Happy New Year The following day we rented a motorcycle and drove around Battambang. The sites were within 25 km of the city so we decided that it could be done in a day. Although we were told by all of the moto drivers that it was impossible to access the sites on our own, we thought where would the adventure be in having a guide? We drove just out of the city and saw a sign for a weaving workshop. We stopped and went in to take a look. To women were weaving traditional scarves on large wooden looms. It was really cool to watch them and I was amazed at how fast they get into the rhythm and Read More
