Busy time
Well I know that a lot of people are curious about how the wedding plans are shaping up and I'm sorry that I've been incommunicado. I've been in the midst of a flurry of activity and am having a hard time keeping track of all the things I have to do inspite of making endless lists. Wedding preparations seem to be shaping up although the budget grows every time I look. In all there are 5 phases to this wedding. The first will take place on November 30th at the house that we've rented on Lake Kivu. IT's the dowry ceremony which involves Elson's family coming to ask my family for me. It involves a cow (virtual) and me changing places. The second is the Civil Ceremony which will take place on December 1st at the SEctor office in Gisenyi. This involves us making vows while holding onto the Rwandan flag and declaring how many children we plan to have. The third phase is the reception which will take place at Paradis Malahide hotel on the lake. It has a beautiful garden and they'll prepare a buffet. Fourth, is a get together / party back at the house that evening with drinking and dancing. Fifth is December 2nd. We'll visit Elson's family in a traditional ceremony where the groom shows the bride to his family and neighbours. Stay tuned for lots of pictures. In the mean time, we're looking at immigration documents, trying to plan the visit from my mom, dad and sister and I just moved out of the house I've been living in. Busy Busy Busy The wedding's in just 2 weeks so stay tuned for pictures! I'm thinking of all my wonderful friends and family back home who won't make it to the wedding and wishing you were here, but you sort of are here with me. I can't wait to see you.... but I"m afraid that won't be until next summer! Plans change and I've decided to extend another six months so that Elson and I can come to Canada together (keep fingers crossed). Lots of love!
